What’s the point of the avant-garde? A category in many mediums that include fashion, makeup, music, and film, the goals of the avant garde are complex and often seen as just “weird.” Experimental art in any form can be difficult to interpret, and alternative means of telling a story can often bother people who consume it. We’re going to look into that beyond just ambient music and experimental films by talking about fashion designers like Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons and Alejandro Jodorowsky’s The Holy Mountain.
