No Hope Street (NHS) is a particularly special song to the band as the theme concerns issues surrounding invisible disabilities and the lack of awareness towards them. This is due to both our vocalist Amy and bassist Beth, being diagnosed with connective tissue disorders (Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) which affect every 1 in 6000. As a band, we are working towards promoting better education towards overshadowed chronic illnesses and their treatment. We would like to note that the lyrics are not an attack against healthcare workers and were written to bring light to issues that millions globally face every day. Era’s End want to promote understanding of invisible disabilities both among the public and in the medical community, with Amy and Beth, like so many others, having experienced over a decade of disbelief, misdiagnoses and gaslighting in their medical care.
