Desk of Ladyada - OV5640 Camera module testing

Thanks to jeplers intrepid and unyielding efforts, we now have OV5640 camera module support in CircuitPython. This is a snazzy 5 MPixel camera module which can do JPEG encoding on-chip and auto levels. It’s a rather nice camera and given you can always use it at lower res like 320x240, we think this is our pick. We got a few samples from the camera manufacturer and interestingly enough, we got one version with a kinda fisheye lens (that works fine) and one version with a pinhole lens and a SECRET! The Great Search - Triple Nickles! (555 Timers) We just saw Colin’s great video on 555 timers, who doesn’t love these classic chips? You can still get them, heck they are one of the few things you CAN get! So if you want to make a one-shot timer or a mini synth, check out Digi-Key for all your 555 timer needs. They’ve also greatly improved in performance since the 70s, with wider voltage range, lower quiescent current, and higher frequency outputs. #deskofladyada #thegreatse
