In 1996, Deep Purple was in its Mark VII lineup, which was composed of the following members:
Ian Gillan – Lead Vocals
Steve Morse – Guitar
Roger Glover – Bass
Jon Lord – Keyboards
Ian Paice – Drums
This lineup came together after Ritchie Blackmore left the band in 1993 and was replaced by Steve Morse in 1994. Jon Lord, the founding keyboardist, was still part of the band at this time, but he would leave in 2002. Ian Paice, the drummer, is the only member to have been in every lineup of Deep Purple.
During this period, they released the album Purpendicular in 1996, which was the first to feature Steve Morse on guitar.
