Graham Lynch - Waltz Cocteau for Guitar Quartet (2018) Rody van Gemert, José Casallas, Mari Mäntylä, Petri Kumela, guitars Program Note: Waltz Cocteau is one of a number of compositions of mine inspired by the essence of Jean Cocteau’s creative output across a range of media including poetry, plays, films and novels. It evokes Cocteau’s characteristic spirit and temperament, displaying a lightness of touch, with twists and turns, together with elements of surprise and illusion. Waltz Cocteau was commissioned by the International Guitar Foundation for the 2018 London Guitar Festival, and premiered by the Eurostrings ensemble, comprising many of Europe’s leading young guitar players.
