Leading Indian Saxophonist Jesse Bannister is accompanied on the Jori player Sukhwinder Singh. The Jori is a percussion instrument used in Sikh kirtan from the times of Guru Arjun Dev Ji (1563-1606). Sukhwinder is respected as the finest exponent of this awesome percussion instrument. Jesse Bannister has an Indian Mother who is half Tamil, half Goan. Jesse was raised by his British Father in Tottenham, London where he became part of the West Indian community. Having seen Ravi Shankar in 1987, aged 15, on TV on Network East on a Tuesday at 2am, Jesse had the urge to play Indian music.
