End of Summer (2014) Dir Jóhann Jóhannsson

Shot on black and white super 8 film, Jóhann Jóhannsson’s 2014 directorial debut ‘End of Summer’ is a hypnotic and slow-burning journey through the austere landscapes of the island of South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula. Accompanied by rich and detailed field recordings of the surrounding, this footage makes a perfect foundation for Jóhann’s musical compositions, performed together with Oscar-winning composer Hildur Guðnadóttir and Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe. The OST is out on Sonic Pieces. In 2020 End of Summer was screened by Mubi.
