Viola da gamba making | Part 5 – cleaning scroll and pegbox

In today’s viola da gamba making episode I’m focusing on cleaning scroll and pegbox. While gouging out the material from the pegbox its important to make two short and hollowed sections. This way the outermost strings won’t touch the walls of the pegbox and break during tuning. By the end of the video the whole piece will have its final shape and will be ready for relief carving.
