Farmers Block Traffic On Highway Between France and Spain as Protests Spread Across Europe

As of February 6, Spanish farmers are currently blocking traffic on major highways across the country. They are expressing their discontent with high costs, bureaucratic challenges and competition from non-EU nations. The protests are a part of a broader movement seen in other European countries, including France, Belgium, Italy, and Portugal. Farmers, wielding signs with slogans like “With no agriculture and farmers, you don’t eat,“ are gathering in cities such as Ronda in the south and Vitoria in the north. They are specifically protesting against the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the burdensome bureaucracy they face. The farmers argue that stringent regulations aimed at protecting the environment put them at a disadvantage compared to their counterparts in Latin America and non-EU European regions. Although official protests were scheduled for February 8 onwards, many farmers have already taken to the roads with their tractors, causing traffic disruptions from Seville and Granada in the south to Girona near the French border. #farmersprotest #farmers #spanishfarmers #europe #ap7highway #frenchfarmers #franceprotest #worldnews n18oc_world n18oc_crux CRUX is your daily video news guide to the big events that are shaping our world.
