Denmark’s Best Whisky - Stauning Distillery 2023 In today’s video, I visited the famous Stauning Whisky Distillery on the West Coast of Denmark. It was started by 9 friends who wanted to see if they could craft an exceptional whisky using local farmers’ ingredients like rye and barley in an old-fashioned and sustainable way. They are an interesting group of construction engineers, a helicopter pilot, a doctor, a chef, a butcher, and a teacher. Stauning is now known for its high-quality Rye and Single Malt Whisky. Stauning uses floor malting and direct-fired small pot stills. They started in 2005 in the back room of a butcher shop which they rapidly outgrew and then moved to an old farmhouse. In 2019 they expanded to add modern complimentary Danish-designed buildings at the farm to create the incredible distillery they are today.
