Mercedes-Benz Trucks Evolution (1926 - 2021)
Mercedes-Benz trucks are manufactured by the truck division (Daimler Trucks) of
Daimler AG. Mercedes-Benz trucks have their origins in Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft
(DMG with the Mercedes brand), which delivered the world’s first truck on October 1, 1896,
and in Benz & Cie., With DMG in 1926 Daimler-Benz merged. Daimler-Benz vehicles have
been called Mercedes-Benz ever since.
With over 489,000 trucks sold (2019), Daimler Trucks is the world’s largest truck
manufacturer. The most important production location since 1965 has been the
Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth in the southern Palatinate. All truck series (Actros, Arocs,
Antos, Atego, Econic, Zetros and Unimog) are built there.
