We recorded this 4k ultra hd video during our trip to Taormina, Sicily on June 2022. Located on the east coast of Sicily, on a rocky plateau of Mount Tauro, beautiful Taormina is definitely a must-see travel destination for tourists from all over the world. Founded in the 4th century BC, it enjoyed great prosperity under the Greeks and later under the Romans, but fell into obscurity after being conquered by the Normans in 1087. Its reincarnation as a tourist destination dates to the 18th century, when it became a mandatory stop on the Grand Tour – the journey made by the European aristocracy of the time. Because this charming city is located at an altitude of about 250 meters (820 ft), access to its beaches, including that of Isola Bella, is by an aerial tramway built in 1992. Our guided walking tour is about 3 miles (4.8 km) long and covers most attractions and historic sites of Taormina.
