Russia struggles to contain HIV/AIDS epidemic

Eastern Europe and central Asia are the only parts of the world where the HIV epidemic continues to rise rapidly. In Russia, the Kremlin is being accused of worsening the crisis by restricting access to HIV prevention programmes. Russia admits the HIV infection rate is at a record high and the epidemic may be irreversible.
