‘Thank you for giving me back my play.’ With these words David Harrower blessed us; he had just emerged from a run through in the rehearsal room, having flown into Dublin that morning from Scotland. His smiles and embraces said as much – we were clearly on the right track! Those weeks with Stephen and Catherine immersed in David’s dense, demanding yet devastatingly brilliant script had left its mark and we were all emotionally raw. But above all we were excited, for we knew we were forging something of worth, a production to live in the memory of all those who saw it.
