Bank customers queue for ’free money’ at cash machines in Ireland

Long queues formed outside Bank of Ireland cash machines in Dublin after word spread they were giving out “free money“. A technical malfunction meant people could withdraw cash regardless of their bank balance. The bank said customers’ accounts would eventually be debited. “We are aware that the technical issue meant some customers were able to withdraw or transfer funds above their normal limits. These transfers and withdrawals will be applied to customers’ accounts today,“ it said in a statement.
