Full title reads: “Liverpool. Off To The Sudan. First Battalion Coldstream Guards leave in Anchor Liner ’Tuscania’ for Khartoum.“ Liverpool, Merseyside. Large number of soldiers on dockside waiting to board troopship. Soldiers are passing rifles up human chain on gangplank. Soldiers from the Coldstream Guards Regiment walk up gangplank carrying kitbags slung over their shoulders. Camera follows one group of soldiers as they walk through gangway into the ship. Soldiers carrying the regimental colours (furled flags) up gangplank. Side view of the liner “Tuscania“ as it moves away from dock. Soldiers line the decks and cheer. People wave from dockside.
