Lucas Debargue - Scarlatti: Sonata in F Major, K. 6

Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) - Sonata in F Major K 6, L 479. Lucas Debargue – piano. Painting by Nicolas Lancret (1690-1743) - Le Menuet. Scarlatti wrote his 555 sonatas for his pupil and patroness, the Portuguese Princess (and later Spanish Queen), Maria Barbara. Both Scarlatti and the Queen were extraordinary harpsichordists and had great improvisational skills. French painter, Nicolas Lancret, is known for his small-scale paintings of elegantly dressed aristocrats in playful scenes, a painting style called the fête galante, to which Lancret added a touch of comedy and humour. ____________________
