This Week in Volcanoes; Potential New Eruption in Iceland, Uplift at Ichinsky

Right now, there are 47 volcanoes actively erupting on the planet. In Iceland, the alert level of the Krysuvik volcano was raised from yellow to orange as a series of several thousand earthquakes continues. It may only be a matter of time before a new eruption begins near Reykjavik. In Russia, the massive Ichinsky volcano is showing signs of unrest as an intrusion of magma is ongoing underneath its massive edifice. Also, in the Pacific nation of Tonga, a new eruption began at the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano.
