Athletes For Ballet (1961)

Richmond, London. Various shots of young men doing exercises in the grounds of the Royal Ballet School at Richmond Park. They do handstands and somersaults over the heads of their trainer and each other; four boys are seen practising a routine of various ballet postures as commentator explains the exercises are part of their training for their ballet careers. Several more outdoor exercising and jumping shots; over a wooden horse, on parallel bars and over high jump poles. The boys are then seen practising ballet postures and movements in a dance studio and at the bar (not the alcoholic variety). Three young men practise a ballet movement with three ballerinas in tutus. Note: there is no print for this issue. On file are cameraman’s notes and a booklet/prospectus about The Royal Ballet School. Cuts exist - see separate record. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
