You can see several harmonic substitutions and note choices that setup the vibe right away, as well as compliment and sometimes push the soloists. There is a great walking-solo towards the end as well, worth checking out the ideas and harmonies being utilized. I left the chord symbols as is throughout even when Ron is clearly outlining something specific, because they are heard and created on the fly. For educational purposes I like the idea of seeing what is actually happening ’against’ the chords that someone would be seeing on a leadsheet, and to give the opportunity to write in or figure them out for ourselves.
