He dedicated comic-erotic and also bizarre-demonic stories to his native city. Some of them Modest Mussorgsky used for his only comic opera “The Fair of Sorochintsy“. Unfortunately, the gifted but unfortunate composer also left this opera unfinished at his death. The composer Fabrice Bollon has taken on the fragment with a new instrumentation. This version was produced in September 2022 in the Hans Rosbaud studio of the SWR in Baden-Baden.
