Full title reads: “Birkenhead. Wonderful new bridge. Delicately balanced 1,177-ton structure which can be lowered into position in less than 2 minutes - opened. Should current fail, two men could work it by hand!“ Birkenhead, Merseyside. Various shots of civic dignitaries gathered for opening ceremony of new bridge. Woman pushes lever that start the closing motion of the bridge. Shots of the bridge being lowered so that traffic can cross. The woman cuts a ribbon to open the bridge.
