China’s power cuts affecting factories and households

There is a serious energy issue, with factories halting operations and households plunged into darkness. Jang Tae-hyun tells us more. China is experiencing an energy crisis... and it’s starting to affect people’s daily lives... adding the risk of an economic slowdown. There have been blackouts in some of China’s northern provinces and even traffic lights have been turned off. Some people have been hospitalized after using stoves for heating in poorly-ventilated rooms. And as some lifts are not functioning in apartment or office buildings, people have had to take the stairs instead. Local media say, it’s because of the lack of electricity... since coal and natural gas costs too much. And, China is highly dependent on coal for power. The energy crisis is starting to affect various industries... with several provinces ordering factories to cut emissions. Even some Apple and Tesla suppliers have suspended prod
