I recently watched a few of these videos and the biggest mistake everyone makes is in assuming that the exercise is the problem. Yes, there are some low-quality quad exercises out there but most of them can be redeemed just by manipulating your form.
My quads grew noticeably more when I started really paying attention to my form. figuring out what I could do to manipulate my knee moment arm and put as much tension on the quadriceps as possible. The three most important factors are how well does it isolate your quads, how much does it put them at length and is there anything else you can do to the exercise to make it even worse!
