In this excerpt of act II of Iris, an opera by P. Mascagni that Magda Olivero was particularly fond of, we can hear and actually visualize what the great Italian conductor G. Gavazzeni recalls of Olivero’s interpretation in Florence in 1964, where he generously praised her acting, her vocal technique, her musicality, and the suppleness of her voice. Here, the film was recorded in 1964 in Naples in the usual manner of the time: it was synchronized with an already existing audio recording.
