How Brainwashing Works Journalist Candace Owens explained how brainwashing works using the example of a CIA experiment: “The CIA once conducted an experiment in which they put 18 people in a room. 17 of them were CIA agents, and one of them was an unsuspecting person from the street.“ Each person was shown a picture of a triangle and asked what they saw. The CIA agents were told to say that the picture was supposedly a square.
