Top diplomats meet in North Macedonia for OSCE meeting

유럽안보협력기구 회의, 북마케도니아서 개최 The 30th meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Ministerial Council officially started on Thursday and will last for two days in North Macedonia’s capital, Skopje. Top diplomats from more than 50 countries arrived there on Wednesday, while Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, and later, Poland. Romania officially boycotted the meeting in protest against the attendance of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The meeting of the 57-member OSCE began with a degree of tension on Thursday, as Lavrov claimed that it was in “deplorable shape“ and that “its prospects are unclear,” while reaffirming the Kremlin’s opposition to the U.S. and NATO allies’ efforts to limit Russia’s influence. Lavrov commented that “The OSCE is essentially being turned into an appendage of NATO and the European Union.“ This was the first time Russia’s top diplomat has visited a NATO member nation since his country invaded Ukraine in February 2022. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a brief stop on Wednesday but left for Israel hours later. #North_Macedonia #OSCE #Europe_Ministerial_Council #Top_diplomats #Security_Cooperation #유럽안보협력기구 #북마케도니아 #Arirang_News #아리랑뉴스 📣 Facebook : 📣 Twitter : 📣 Homepage : 2023-12-01, 09:00 (KST)
