Diversity in BBC ‘not about skin colour’ | 25-Feb-21

The BBC has announced a new diversity directive which will require 95% of staff to complete ’unconscious bias’ training and which aims for 80% to declare their social class. The former Head of religion at the BBC & Channel 4 told talkRADIO that diversity is not just about skin colour but about the diversity of people and where they come from. Speaking with Ian Collins, Aaqil Ahmed said: “I think the issue is whether you’re working class background, whatever your ethnicity is… I don’t think it’s a bad thing to know what the makeup of your organisation is.”
