Hunchback of Notre Dame (France, 1911) directed by Albert Capellani

The original source material for this copy was not affected by lost footage, excessive splices or nitrate decomposition. It is possible with patience to appreciate the film. Evidently in 1911 the film was shipped on eight short reels of approximately five minutes each. I’ve opted to retain the reel change titles as a historical artifact of the film.
