Alfred Schnittke - ballet Labyrinths - video 1989

Alfred Schnittke’s ballet Labyrinths (1971) performed in Moscow in 1989. Skip to 01:25 for the start. This was a concert performance put on by Giedrius Mackevičius’s Plastic Drama Theatre with an ensemble of the Bolshoi Orchestra under Alexander Lazarev. The evening was a celebration of Schnittke’s work, and judging by all the people crowded onto the stairs and packed into the balconies, it was a special occasion. I’ve also uploaded Schnittke’s violin concerto no. 3 from the same concert, after which Schnittke came onstage for several minutes.
