The Norvick neighborhood is of great historical significance: It bears witness to Canada’s contribution to the war effort, as this sector is one of the 163 neighborhoods built in Canada by Wartime Housing Limited during World War II. The Norvick neighborhood is unique, as it is the only residential development of workers’ homes built in Montréal by Wartime Housing Limited during that time. As these houses were temporary, the Government planned to demolish or relocate them once the war was over; however, in 1947, the houses were sold to the families who were living in them.
