Hamas’s political chief blames Israel for failing to reach a ceasefire deal before Ramadan

Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas’s political bureau, blames Israel for failing to reach a ceasefire deal before Ramadan, saying: “We don’t want an agreement that doesn’t end the war on Gaza.” In occupied East Jerusalem Israeli forces have blocked the entrance to the Al-Aqsa mosque compound. Some worshippers prayed outside. Others who were trying to enter the compound, were beaten by Israeli soldiers at the gate entrance. The Al-Aqsa compound is the third holiest site for Muslims. Since October the 7th, Israeli authorities have limited the number of people allowed in. Al Jazeera’s Willem Marx has the latest from occupied East Jerusalem.
