1972 - Planxty - RTÉ - ’The Music Makers’ - National Stadium, Dublin

On 18 June 1973 the RTÉ television series ‘The Music Makers’ featured Planxty live at the National Stadium in Dublin. ‘The Music Makers’ was a light entertainment series featuring performers from the Irish music scene. Live performances of Donovan, Horslips, Louis Stewart and Rory Gallagher were all filmed for the series. Some programmes from the series were broadcast as an experimental colour transmission. The extract shown here is from the final programme in the series broadcast on 18 June 1973. Filmed in the summer of 1972 Planxty play to a capacity crowd at the National Stadium.
