“Russian missile violated Polish airspace“, says Poland

A suspected Russian missile breached NATO-member Poland’s airspace on Friday (December 29), as reported by the Polish armed forces. The object spent less than three minutes in Polish territory, covering 40 kilometres before likely returning to Ukraine, General Maciej Klisz, the operational commander of the Polish army said. Despite monitoring its entire flight path, no action was taken against the missile. This incident occurred amid a significant overnight Russian attack on Ukraine, involving 158 drones and missiles targeting critical infrastructure. Polish authorities have mobilized emergency services to investigate, with no reported casualties. Private broadcaster TV Republika reported on Friday a search near Hrubieszow in southern Poland. Reuters could not immediately verify this. But footage from private broadcaster TVN showed soldiers patrolling in the nearby town of Sosnowa Debowa.
