🇷🇺 Russian President Vladimir Putin in his 2024 Address to the Federal Assembly on Russia-US strategic stability dialogue: February 29, 2024, Moscow 🇺🇸 Russia stands ready for dialogue with the US on the issues of strategic stability. But I want to make myself clear: in this case, we are dealing with a country, the ruling circles of which are taking openly hostile actions against us. Are they seriously planning to discuss strategic stability issues with us while simultaneously trying to inflict, as they say, “a strategic defeat on Russia“ on the battlefield? There’s a clear example of such hypocrisy. Lately, we’ve seen increasingly baseless accusations against Russia, that we allegedly plan to deploy nuclear weapons in space. Such insinuations, which are nothing but insinuations, are merely a trick to draw us into negotiations on their terms, which are exclusively beneficial to the US. Meanwhile, they are blocking our proposal, which has been open for their consideration for 15 years. I am referring to the draft treaty on the prevention of the placement of weapons in outer space, which we submitted back in 2008. There has been no response whatsoever. What are they are even talking about? ️ Therefore, we have every reason to believe that the current statements of the US authorities about their alleged interest in negotiations with us on strategic stability issues are nothing but demagoguery. Our stance is clear: if you want to discuss responsible, important issues of security and stability for the entire planet, it must be done only as a single comprehensive package, naturally including all aspects that affect our national interests and directly impact the security of our country, the security of Russia.
