Before that terrible April 1986, peaceful life reigned here. The Chornobyl nuclear power plant, located near the city of Pripyat, consisted of 4 nuclear power units. On that terrible night of April 26, during the experiment on the 4th power unit, 2 strong explosions thundered. Catastrophic destruction and terrible consequences still make themselves felt. The power unit was completely destroyed and resulting in the death of one employee. The city of Pripyat was completely evacuated and is still abandoned to this day. Clouds of radiation dust covered vast areas. The accident is considered one of the largest in the history of nuclear energy. The consequences of radiation emissions reached not only European countries, but also partially reached the United States. Today, work at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant has been stopped. The first, second and third power units are closed, 4 is destroyed and two more are considered unfinished. This story and the horrifying aftermath scare but also attract some tourists.
