Machining a Polishing Drive Wheel | Using BIG Lathe Faceplate

In this video we are machining a concrete pipe polishing drive wheel. The wheel is oversize and needs the outer diameter machined down. We first set up the wheel in our 4 metre lathe with a 4 jaw chuck but quickly find out the wheel is warped and set up needs to be changed. So we set up our big 950mm (3’ foot) lathe faceplate and hold the wheel in place using toe clamps and a pipe centre in the tail stock. Machining down the OD was very interesting with tool clearance and we had to change it up a few times with different tools to get it completed. In this video we are using our LZMT CW6280D Centre Lathe. Join our channel: We upload new videos every Friday at 5pm AEST! If you want to see more of our videos click LIKE & SUBSCRIBE!
