Artist James avati was well known Illustrator and paperback book designer from the United States. In New York, his father worked as a professional photographer. James avati’s mother died not long after he was born. He was continually painting and drawing. After WWII, James found a job creating a window show for a department shop on Fifth Avenue in New York City. However, James avati continued to work on the side, and his work pleased Kurt Enoch of the New American Library in 1948. It was a brand-new paperback publishing company. His work was an instant success, changing the design of book covers in the early 1950s. He collaborated with Theodore Dreiser, William Faulkner, Erskine Caldwell, J. D. Salinger, JamesT. Farrell, Pearl Buck, John O’Hara, Mickey Spillane, Earl Stanley Gardner, Alberto Moravia, and James Mishner, among others.
