Termites eat away Andhra pig rearer’s Rs 3 lakh

Will termites attack money stored inside iron box? This man’s belief was that it won’t but that belief collapsed on Tuesday. He is a naïve pig-rearer of Mylavaram in Andhra. He and his family members had the biggest shock of their life after they found their hard-earned savings of Rs 3 lakh had turned into mere scraps due to termite attack. The 52-yr-old Bijili Jamalayya, dreaming of owning a house, had saved Rs 3 lakh in the iron box. To realise this dream, he had keept himself and his family members away from luxuries. When he fell short of Rs 1 lakh to invest in his business, Jamalayya opened the old trunk box after keeping it closed for several months. He was shocked to find that his hard earned money had been devoured by termites. Unable to bear the shock, he cried loudly and collapsed on the floor. His family members found the termite-eaten currency on the floor. On seeing the damaged currency notes in the hands of his children, locals informed the matter to Mylavaram police who rushed to the house o
