Zac Efron Honored to Play Matthew Perry in Biopic: “He Was a Mentor to Me“

Zac Efron is opening up about his late co-star Matthew Perry and reveals that he was reportedly wanted to play him in a biopic about his life. Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom Friends, died at the age of 54 in October 2023. Efron, who starred with Perry in the 2009 comedy 17 Again, tells People that Perry was “a mentor“ and that he learned comedic timing from him. “When we were filming 17 Again, it was so surreal for me to look across and have him be there,“ he says. “I’m honored to hear that he was thinking of me to play him.
