Making of the 2018 ISS U.S. National Lab Mission Patch, Created by Ridley Scott

Each year, the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space, manager of the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory, works with one entity to develop a mission patch representing all ISS National Lab research in a calendar year. This year, the organization has partnered with Sir Ridley Scott, the iconic filmmaker and producer of movies like the Alien series, Blade Runner, and The Martian. Scott has offered his creative touch to show appreciation to space, exploration, and humanity’s desire to push the boundaries of innovation. This video provides background into the development of the mission patch, giving a unique insight into Scott’s perspective while designing this unique mission patch, which will represent hundreds of experiments launching to the ISS National Lab in 2018.
