Soldiers sit on the floor in a large gymnasium. They are told that members of the Battalion have the choice of being posted to Germany or staying in Britain. The Colonel tells the soldiers the advantages of being in Germany.
Sergeant Brown and Janie are undecided. On weekend leave Brown tries to persuade Janie that they should go to Germany. An ex-soldier who now runs a pub gives them some advice. He talks of how much friendship and satisfaction army life gives. He also says that it doesn’t matter if the education of children suffers when they are moved around the world (!)
We see the Army Barracks in Germany and the army houses (they look a bit grim). There follows a sequence showing all the fun army men can have in their spare time.
