Odete – Invocação

The 35th release of katharsis is the EP “Garganta“ by Portuguese artist Odete, coming out on August 7th. The five tracks of the EP are haunting artefacts from her past live-performances, recollected here to allow them to gain a new breath of life together. They portray intoxicating stories of underwater heartbreak, poisonous tongues and post-linguistic dreams through ethereal, muddy, suffocating soundscapes. Odete’s grand discography spans wide and includes releases on great labels such as Genome (Shanghai), New Scenery (London) and naivety (Lisbon), but while her earlier musical output generally has pointed in a club-oriented direction, “Garganta“ takes a more exquisite approach with fragile almost drumless harp-driven emotional nocturnes. After the first four poignant ballads, the EP climaxes on the energetic and chaotic finale Invocação, for which Odete filmed a cute visualizer for that will come out on the release date.
