Milan - Humez Takes Mitri’s Title (1954)

Milan, Italy. GV. Start of fight. Boxers tied up in centre of ring. Italian boxer Tiberio Mitri in light shorts. SCU. Boxers disengage and size each other up. STV. Still cautious, when France’s Charles Humez beats Mitri to the punch and lands some fairly heavy blows about Mitri’s head. SV. Mitri being surprisingly timid, but Humez is always on the attack. Humez catches Mitri and sends him down. STV. Mitri falling on his back. Referee sends Humez to neutral corner and takes up count. SV. Mitri rises and resumes fighting. He hangs on grimly but referee steps into part them. Humez carries on attack and Mitri slips to canvas for count of three or four. Resumes. Again Humez sails in with Mitri trying to cover up. Humez forces him to ropes. Mitri throws two or three desperate punches but Humez brushes them aside and sails in again. Referee stops fight.
