Dancing in Jazz Age Shanghai

A collection of video clips (and some other stuff) of the dance scene in Shanghai in the 1920s & ’30s. The movie clips are set at a posh nightclub, a college social club and an afternoon tea dance. As with everywhere else in the world in the Jazz Age, the Foxtrot is king - though there was Tango playing as they enter the nightclub in the first scene. The audio was so bad though, that I ditched it for a nice period recording - and when they get up and dance in that first clip a Foxtrot is playing. The second clip was silent and the third actually featured Whitey Smith, an American based in Shanghai, but I decided to just stick with the one song for continuity.
