Sense of Space : Connectome AI Architecture

The 17th International Architecture Exhibition runs from 22 May to 21 November 2021, curated by architect and scholar Hashim Sarkis. Sense of Space consists of two installations, Connectome Architecture and Molecular Architecture, that attempt to explore human cellular architectures that support the most dynamic and complex set of biological functions through an interdisciplinary investigation of optics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, neural networks, and reconstructive computational technologies. Connectome Architecture showcases a 3D-printed AI Data Sculpture created by plotting data points that reflect how our brains learn, remember, and experience discrete emotions. The dataset that is used to train a machine-learning algorithm is based on Human Connectome Project’s approximately 70 Terabytes of multimodal MRI data from people ranging from birth to nonagenarians. Molecular Architecture is a manifestation of infinitely dynamic and molecularly defined biological forms on the nanoscopic scale at a never before achieved detail, produced at Harvard’s Sabri Ülker Center. These novel perspectives on display define how form relates to function in life, and how molecular architecture determines health or disease. The #BiennaleArchitettura2021 #HowWillWeLiveTogether is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 am to 7 pm! #LaBiennaleDiVenezia #BiennaleArchitettura
