Viola da gamba making | Part 10 – finishing the ribs

Today I’m focusing on finishing the ribs structure of the body. This includes one of the trickiest parts of the whole viola da gamba making process which is gluing the upper bout sides. When the ribs are secured in place I glue a thin strip of spruce around the inside of the body to increase the gluing surface for the top plate.
