Canada, Ontario, Algonquin Park, Continental Ridge Quarry, 300 kilometers from Ottawa, April 2024.

Algonquin was founded in 1893 not to stop logging, but to create a wildlife sanctuary and, excluding agriculture, to protect the headwaters of the five major rivers flowing from the park. It was soon “discovered“ first by enterprising fishermen, then by Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven, and by many other visitors who arrived by train and stayed in one of several hotels.
