- HERZLICH TUT MICH VERLANGEN (BWV 727)

In this video you can hear my rendition of ’s “Herzlich tut mich verlangen” (BWV 727) played on my Hauptwerk organ. I have chosen to use the sample set of Noordbroek, created by Sonus Paradisi. Herzlich tut mich verlangen (BWV 727) by Johann Sebastian Bach is one of the composer’s beloved choral preludes for the organ. It belongs to other various single chorale preludes that was written for the organ (BWV 714-765) . There is many sighing motives that links to the central word “verlangen“. Bach’s early compositions (fx. “Neumeister Collection“), BWV 727 for the organ is a later work that brings forth a slightly ornamented chorale cantus firmus and a final cadence underlined by the dissonance of a diminished seventh. The melody on “Herzlich tut mich verlangen“ must have meant a lot to Bach as it is frequently used in some of his compositions.
