Wootz Ep 1: Experimenting with Crucible Steel

We test our iron melting furnace with a charge of wrought iron and charcoal. We aim to reach temperatures around 3000 Fahrenheit. Crucible steel has been available in India since at least 300 BC. Wootz steel used for making swords is one example of such steel. Watch all the videos in this series:
